Iran with six gold, two silver medals become winners
Pakistan get second position with three gold, three silver and one bronze medal
Iran bagged six gold and two silver medals and became the winners of the G2, organized by the Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF) at Liaquat Gymnasium, Islamabad held from Nov 1 to 4. Pakistan got second position by winning three gold, three silver and one bronze medal while Egypt became third with two gold, one silver and five bronze medals. However, in the junior category events, Pakistani athletes prevailed and secured first place with three gold and one silver medal. Bahrain was declared second while Iran named third in the junior category competitions.
Pakistani athletes showed outstanding performance during the championship. The results: Pakeeza Khan beat Nuzra Jamal 2-0, Naqash Hamdani beat Meezari Zohra of Afghanistan in 53kg category by 2-1, Nusrat Bibi of Pakistan beat Yasmeen Azizi of Afghanistan by 2-1 and won gold medals. In 73kg Pakistan’s Shahzaib Khan outclassed Islamic Zahedan of Kazakhstan by 2-0 and won gold medal. Fahad Khan beat his countryman Syed Jarrar with 2-0 and won gold Overall M.Adnan, Eesha Safdar, Safdar Malik, Fakhar Ali, Sara Baig and Makihal Ali played well and won the medals Federal Minister Shahzain Bugti, who was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony, termed the event a testimony to Pakistan’s love and capabilities for sports. He said he was impressed by the number of world-class players from a significant number of countries and the quality of game presented during the entire event.

“Sports bring world communities together and we must continue with such events to create peace and bring people from across the globe together,” he said. PTF President Col Waseem Ahmed Janjua (R) said the event has been successfully staged, paving the way for more international championships to be staged in the country in future. He was thankful to all units, the sponsors mainly Combaxx Sports and the referees who worked ‘day and night’ to make this prestigious event a success.
PTF’s CEO Umar Saeed also present on this occasion and distributed medals. Head coach of Pakistan Taekwondo Yousaf Karami was also present on this occasion. Kazakhstan’s Ambassador said that quality competitions were witnessed throughout the entire event. “More significantly, not a single disputed decision took place in the entire event, which is quite impressive,” he added.

The event’s technical delegate from Lebanon Danial Khorassandijan said that the referees’ performance was superb in all the Asian level championships. Many national and international dignitaries, including Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Oman’s Vice Ambassador, Technical Delegate from Lebanon Danial Khorassandijan, Chairman Referee Commission Shehram Arbabi and others also graced the concluding ceremony.
