Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz win the US Open men’s final against Norway’s Casper Ruud. Alcaraz defeated Ruud, 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (7-1), 6-3, to win the title at the age of 19, He has cemented his name in the record books, winning the US Open final to become the youngest No.1 male player in history in a three hours and 20 minutes epic at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Alcaraz started the better of the two players, nicking a break to win the first set. But Ruud struck back in the second, comfortably getting on top and snaring two breaks to level the contest. It looked as if Ruud was going to run away with the match in the third set, but he couldn’t get the break.

Despite Alcatraz looking tired and off-the-boil, the Spaniard hung in there and then produced a stunning tiebreak to go up two sets to one. Buoyed by getting ahead in the match, Alcaraz used that energy to get the job done in the fourth set, creating history as the youngest ever top-ranked player – eclipsing Lleyton Hewitt.
