Pakistan Consulate in Birmingham gave a reception in honour of Pakistani contingent which participated in the Commonwealth Games. On this occasion Consulate General of Pakistan in Birmingham Sardar Adnan Rashid welcomed the athletes and officials of Pakistan contingent.
He felicitated weightlifter Muhammad Noor Dastgir Butt and Judoka Shah Hussain Shah for winning gold and bronze medals respectively. “It is great honour for Pakistan that Nooh Butt and Shah have won medals at prestigious games, said Sardar Rashid.
He said that they have made us proud through their outstanding performances. He further said that sports persons are goodwill ambassadors, who project a soft image of the country in the world.
Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) President Lt. Gen (r) Arif Hassan thanked the Pakistan Consulate for arranging reception for Pakistani athletes and officials.
He said that POA was trying to give exposure to national athletes to showcase their skills at the international level and learn from athletes of other countries.
Besides others, Vice Consul, Bukhtawar Mir; Cabinent Members at Birmingham City Councillor, Majid Mahmood; Councillor Mariam Khan; Deputy Lord, Lieutenant Dr. Nasir Awan MBF; national sports legends Samiullah Khan, Mushtaq Muhammad and General Secretary POA Khalid Mahmood were also present.
