Hanshi Muhammad Anwar, who belongs to Pakistan, is the Founder of World Karate Research Council (WKRC), Founder of Shotokan Karate Council International (SKCI) and Official Country Chief of International Shotokan Shobukan Karate Association (ISSKA), Pakistan. He is also a 8 dan black belt holder, internationally qualified instructor and referee from ISSKA Japan.
In an interview with Sportstimes Muhammad Anwar said, “I learned karate from 1988 to 1995 and participated in various clubs on district, provincial and national level competitions and won several gold, silver and bronze medals. In 2006 and 2007, I represented Punjab in the JKA National Shotokan Karate events held at Quetta and won gold and silver medals. At the international level I won five gold, two silver and one bronze medal. Muhammad Anwar, who is also a qualified referee of Pakistan Karate Federation (PKF), said, “I have served as a referee and judge in several district, provincial, Wapda and Railways on inter-unit level events. Since 2009, I have participated as a referee in 11 national karate events organized under the auspices of PKF. Muhammad Anwar said, “I also started karate coaching in 1995. I founded the Japan Karate Institute of Pakistan (JKIP) in Lahore. Apart from this, for the last three years I am official karate coach of Valancia Karate Club (VKC). Under the patronage of MC Valancia Town I really love karate coaching. In the last two years players of VKC have many achievements and won 58 gold, silver and bronze medals at the online world-wide level, which is the highest record of any karate clubs in Pakistan to receive medals online.
Muhammad Anwar said, “I really saluteand pay tribute to POA President, General (R) Arif Hassan, General Secretary, Khalid Mehmood and Chairman PKF Muhammad Jahangir, who are playing a wonderful role for sports and karate and due to this Pakistan won several gold medals in Commonwealth Games and Islamic Solidarity Games.” He said, Karate Federation is promoting karate and also organized with PKF DHA Karate Championship, Lahore and this championship was organized with international standard and I congratulate POA, PKF and DHA, to hold the successful karate event.”
